GCFC 2013-14 women´s indoor soccer teams competing well
London Ontario -
Date: Monday December 30 2013
German Canadian FC has six teams competing at the BMO London Indoor Soccer League (LISL 2013-14). At roughly the half way point of the regular season, all teams are doing well. Here is a brief update:
Premier Division Bullets are hanging on to first place with 6 wins and 1 loss, which came at the hands of Nor´West Wildcats, the team that includes Jessie Fleming, the latest addition to our senior... Canadian National team.
Division I Fire are sitting in second place with a 6-1-3 (W-L-T) record. Both games against the leaders Byron Athletica ended in ties.
Division II includes three of our teams – Fusion, Blaze and Thunderbirds. This division had 23 teams and after 8 games teams were slotted into the A and B groups based on their record at that time. All three teams made it into the A group.
Division III Blizzard also made it into the A group when this 27 team division was split into three 9 team groups.
GCFC had two teams compete in the adult open Christmas money tournament. After finishing first (Jingle Belles) and second (Snow Ballers) in their respective groups, both teams won their quarterfinal match before meeting each other in the semi final. That game went to a shootout with the winner (Snow Ballers) losing 1:0 in the Final on a very late goal.
A third team (Santa’s Kickers) played the following day in the “recreational” tournament and after posting four wins and one tie in group play, unfortunately lost in the semi-final on penalty kicks.
Congratulations to all three teams!
