GCFC seeks volunteers to help with 2016 Special Olympic provincial qualifiers
North London Fields -
Date: Monday July 11 2016
The German Football Club is sponsoring the 2016 Special Olympic Provincial Qualifier for Soccer Sunday August 14th North London fields.
Advancement from this round leads to the Special Olympics Provincial Summer Games 2017, then Nationals in Nova Scotia 2018 and Worlds the year after.
To make this initiative a success we need a fair number of volunteers to run the qualifier. All times are approximate until all teams register, then day of things can still change. Volunteers can do a few hours or more or the whole day whatever they are able to help with.
In particular we need people for:
Person to get snacks, water
7am set up crew: put up tents, coolers filled with ice and water bottles, set up nets, two people to man volunteer sing in table
7:30 register teams
If teams show up with less than required coach athlete ratio will need to assign helpers to that / those teams.
8:30 -9:30am Assessment coaches: need to have one person at each bench to make sure every player gets onto the field during the assessment session to ensure they are playing in the correct division. Then 3 per game/ division to watch assessment game to see if they need to move up, down, or are I the right one. At least 9 needed for this. Prefer actual coaches or trainers to do the evaluations of the teams.
Helpers: to quickly make new schedules if teams need to change divisions.
Need 2 people to help with overseeing the day along with Mary Kay Klaus, there will be someone present from the provincial office too.
Runners, for paperwork, snacks, fill water coolers at each field, cutting up oranges.
Distribute pizza lunch that will be delivered.
Someone to keep track of results and post on board.
People at each field during games for communication and whatever might be required.
Announcing and handing out Awards
Tear down around 5-6pm.
