VAUGHAN, ON; In the last match of the day, the London White Eagles squared off against Acton Villa as cool Fall temperatures settled on the Ontario Soccer Centre Turf Field under the lights.

The teams for the Classics Over-35 Women´s Final booked their ticket for this game three weeks ago with Semi-Final victories.

Now they were looking to book their ticket to the Western Classics Championships to be held in West Vancouver from October 5-11th.

From the opening whistle, it appeared Acton Villa would be the side to make the trip as they started strong and hungry for a goal.

Acton Villa´s best chance came in the 28th minute, when a long-range blast connected with the cross-bar and bounced back out.

Acton were rewarded for their pressure in the 31st minute when #7 Katharine Thayer out-raced an Eagles defender for a loose ball in the penalty area and slammed it home with her left foot to put Villa on the scoreboard 1-0.

Acton pressed hard and were unlucky not to build on their 1-0 advantage before the half-time whistle.

Acton´s lead looked as though it would stand during the second half, but in the 75th minute, the London White Eagles seemed to take flight, lifting their game pace and pressing hard to even the score.

The pay-off came in the 81st minute when a well-hit cross from a corner-kick found an Acton defender´s knee and deflected into the back of the net to level the score 1-1.

Seizing the moment, London continued to press hard, looking to end the match in regulation time while Acton Villa were back on their heels.

But the winning goal proved elusive and the Championship Final went to Kicks from the Penalty Mark.

Between the posts, London goalkeeper #1 Fatima Harris made three excellent saves on Acton Villa´s shooters to win the Provincial Championship 3-2 on Kicks from the Penalty Mark for the London White Eagles and book their ticket to the Western Classics National Championships in West Vancouver October 5-11th.

Final Score:
London White Eagles 1(3) v (2)1 Acton Villa (PK)
